and HIPAA
I-Medicus, Inc. is governed by all laws concerning
the Healthcare Insurance Portability Accountability
Act (HIPAA) of 1996, and other State and Federal
laws and regulations regarding patient records,
privacy, and confidentiality of healthcare information.
HIPAA is a valuable and important regulation
that ensures that patient records are safe from
those who do not have permission to access them.
At I-Medicus, Inc. our goal is to provide the
physician with the most secure record keeping
possible. For this reason, we monitor our systems
at all times and continually research innovative
technologies to further increase security and
patient confidentiality.
Symphony Suites EMR™
stores all patient data on a secured server
and transmits patient data over the Internet
using SSL (secured sockets layer) encryption.
Information stored in our database is encrypted
and backed up daily.
I-Medicus, Inc. is very concerned about the
privacy of its patient records, and makes every
effort to ensure that all physician and patient
records are kept private, confidential and secure
from unauthorized access and dissemination.
Patients have a right to know that their medical
information is being kept confidential and that
all possible efforts are being taken to protect
this right.
Internally, only the physician gives permission
to users of the practice to access their patients’
information. Further, the physician delineates
the amount of information they want their users
to access. The physician is able to provide
or deny access to each user at any time.
It is incumbent upon the relationship I-Medicus,
Inc. has with physicians to provide confidence
that a secure and confidential environment with
respect to patients’ records and patient
health information (PHI) is being provided.
Therefore,
